X-FORCE DIORAMA!
Hello again. Tonight I get to show you something I videoed at the SDCC. It's Sideshow Collectible's X-Force Diorama. Consisting of a base and four really well done characters this is a stand out piece! The Wolverine comes with 2 heads. I have to say that Sideshow's use of magnets these days in heads and arms is fantastic. The piece in question fits snuggly in it's slot. They used this extensively in their Hulkbuster Statue (reviewed here a while back) and they worked great. This piece also comes with a variant werewolf! Check it out.

Toygodd
Well the SDCC might be history for another year but the coverage continues. Make no mistake. I might have only spent 2 complete days at the Con, but I worked my butt off to bring back as much coverage as I could cram into that time. Today we look at Prop companies. The Prop Shop and Factory Entertainment are two top notch companies that are producing some really cool prop replicas of famous movies. Check it out.
Last but not least is probably the most off beat item I saw while attending the Con. More coverage of lots of different companies and product soon! TG
I came home yesterday to the news that Eddie Wires had died of a heart attack at the age of 38. Those words sent a chill through me. First, because 38 and heart attack shouldn't be in the same sentence. Second, because 5 years ago at the age of 47, I had a heart attack. If not for sheer luck, this would have been me.
I didn't know Eddie personally. He was one of THE best prototype painters in the toy industry. He did however participate in the Destroyer project I had with Argonauts Resin last year. I had an idea that I could design (with a lot of help) a resin figure and sell it to give money to a charity. In need of artists, I was referred to Eddie. We spoke on the phone, I described the project, and he was nice enough to say yes!
I had the occasion to talk to him on the phone a few times and he was just a really nice guy and very knowledgeable about all things in the painting realm.
Here is the Destroyer that he painted up for the project. It didn't sell (along with most of the designs). I now at least have a momento of the one of the truly talented people in the toy industry. If you ever bought a Toybiz Marvel Legend or any other super hero action figure there is a good chance that he painted the master prototype. I was thrilled and honored to have him help me on my project!
My deepest condolences to his family and his friends. He will be missed on so many levels that it's not for me to even try to to describe. Rest in Peace Eddie. The night sky is a bit dimmer without you here.
