I know, I know, we're going backwards a bit here, but now's the time to take a closer look at DCUC series 11. These are currently available on mattycollector.com for a very reasonable price, and they are als0 being found at local Wal-Marts. My set arrived in great shape from Matty, and to my surprise even included the clear Deadman variant. Lots of other collectors I've spoken to also received this variant. This is in contradiction to Matty's order page, which states that you will receive the regular version, that the clear version is unavailable. Clearly, it's a random distribution from them, so you've got a shot at either one, it seems. That said, take a look at one of the cooler series to come along & close out the year in style
Cyborg Superman
As expected this figure is primarily a repaint of the old DCSH Cyborg Superman. One interesting note is that his right hand is sculpted to include all of the yellow rings! This latest version also seems to stand better than the old one.

Deadman (Clear Variant)
As previously stated, I received the clear version in my case, which to me is just way cooler. Deadman is an all-new sculpt, and Boston Brand never looked so good! His shoes cry for an all new classic Robin.

John Stewart
Earth's OTHER Green Lantern finally gets a shot in the line. While I've always been on Team Jordan, John here is very nicely done, and includes two cool green constructs. Due to using the same hand mold, these can be used on your series 3 Hal Jordan Green Lantern. Although I expect it's got more to do with the re-use of parts, it's a nice touch.

Katma Tui
Fellow GL Katma Tui also gets her shot this time. The Green Lantern Corps is definitely the theme this time around! Like John, Katma also includes contracts which fit her tiny hands; a lantern-created green sword and shield.

Shark
Lantern villain Shark comes to life, courtesy of Mattel and the Four Horsemen. Shark's got a great new head sculpt, and has all the proper fins added. His paint lines are really nice and clean, and the metallic paint helps bring this figure to life.

The Question
The fans spoke, and here comes the Question! One of my personal faves, it's great to get ol' Vic Sage in figure form. He features an all new trench coat, gloves (with seams!), and shirt & tie. Looking at this figure, we can old hope & pray that we can get a Commissioner Gordon using this sculpt! Now we need the female Montoya Question, maybe two-packed at TRU with a the female Linda Strauss Dr. Fate? I can dream, can't I?

Steppenwolf (Super Powers & Classic versions)
Another Super Powers figure! I'm always amazed when they give us Kirby and Super Powers versions of these guys just how different the versions really are. They look like two completely different figures. The Super Powers version is very faithful to the original, right down to cord attaching the vibro-axe!

Kilowog (Collect-N-Connect)
Wow. that's all I have to say. I saw this bad boy in prototype form at San Diego Comicon this past year, but the final production looks just amazing. He shares the same basic sculpt with Brimstone, which as of this time remains unfinished from the Public Enemies line. Some has complained that he lacks thigh cuts, but to be honest, I haven't missed it at all. He looks spectacular, and is really one of the best Collect-N-Connect figures in the line.

12/26/09 DCUC 12 AND MOTUC BATTLE CAT SNEEK PEEK!
Copperhead
As I'd expected, Copperhead reuses a few of the scaly body parts from the series 2 Aquaman. He's a very pretty figure, and it's just another example of the Four Horsemen taking a lesser-known character and making him a favorite by way of brilliant execution. He has a nice glossy finish, like the scales of a real snake!

Mary Batson (Marvel)
Mary Batson is my second favorite figure in this wave. She's got that cute "Batson" pudgy face, which gives her a lot of character. She will also ship with a variant in her white outfit.

The Spectre
If you've ever read the original DC miniseries, "The Books of Magic", you will recall there is line spoken by John Constantine about our dear friend Jim Corrigan when asked about the Spectre. Paraphrased he states, "Sometimes, he's nothing more than a bloke running around in green tights. Other times, he's just about the most powerful being in the universe." Truer words were never spoken. The Spectre shown here is the variant glow-in-the-dark version. I'd love to see other versions, such as a Hal Jordan Spectre!

Desaad
I love it when I get to cross a Super Powers figure off of my checklist! A long time waiting has paid off with a truly great version of Darkseid's favorite torturer. His head and hood are separate pieces, so the paint lines are pristine. I only wish you could squeeze his legs together for power shocking action!

Darkseid (Collect-N-Connect)
Unfortunately, I don't have a full set to show you today, so we're going to have to use our imaginations a little bit to extrapolate how big and awesome Darkseid is going to be! Like many collectors, I always loved the DCSH Darkseid figure, but I felt it was a little too small. Mattel has always stated that both Darkseid and Doomsday were solid candidates for Collect-N-Connect treatment, and here's the first! Darkseid comes complete with his personal motherbox, which conveniently plugs onto his belt in the back. He includes a gloved right hand, as well as the infamous Killing Glove. The Killing Glove is very nicely detailed and painted, and pops on and off with ease. I can't wait to finish building one of my allp-time favorite villains!

Masters of the Universe Classics Battle Cat
This is one of my very most anticipated figures period shown at Comicon 2009. My expectations were extremely high based on what I saw, so I expected to be a little Disappointed by the final product. Suffice it to say, my expectations were shattered, and the final toy is much better than I could have hoped for. The armor plating still has all of the airbrush shading the prototype had, and his armor is also completely removeable.. One thing I want to point out is that his shoulders appear to have a slight ball and socket movement, which I was not expecting. He is surprisingly big and heavy. This is one of the "bonus" figures due to his size and price (reportedly $30.00), so be sure to not delay when ordering in February, you do not want to miss him. Really an exceptional, stand-out toy in an already impressive line. Bring on Panthor, and enjoy the pics!

Stay tuned for DCUC Series 11 pics as well as the long awaited Hot Toys DX-01 Joker!
I want to extend a special thanks to Toy Guru & the fine folks at Mattel for providing promotional samples for this review.
