Summer has arrived and can you SMEEELLLLLL the Comic Con coming?! (Acknowledgements to The Rock and WWE!)

Randy here and there’s a lot of great stuff coming down the line, especially with Comic Con International less than a month away! So lets go to it!

SUPER7

At Comic Con, Everyone will hear you scream-for joy!

I’ve been wanting these since I first heard that Super7 was doing the “lost” ALIEN figures from Kenner back in September 2012

Now they’ve made it even cooler!
At Comic Con, they’ll be doing things like an “early bird” special display when you pre-order as well as “Canceled Toy Fair Give Away” figures!
Take a look!

ALIEN REACTION FIGURES
In 1979, prototypes for 3 ¾” action figures for the ALIEN film were developed but never manufactured. Through our network of industry and collector contacts, Super7 has unearthed reference material and original 34-year-old prototypes and will now make these “lost toys” a reality.

Under authorization from 20th Century Fox, Super7 will produce the full series of ALIEN toys as part of our ReAction Figure Series (Retro-Action). Each is stylized exactly as items from the “golden age” of action figures with approximately five points of articulation, accessories, and period-authentic blister card packaging.

Super7 will offer FOUR different exclusives related to this line at San Diego Comic Con:

SDCC EXCLUSIVE #2
ALIEN REACTION FIGURE 2 PACK “DISCOVERED SALES SAMPLES” BIG CHAP & KANE

Super7 tracked down a retired toy sales representative who had a storage unit filled with old catalogs and toys from the 1970s, including a most amazing find: cases of “ALIEN SALES SAMPLES” designated for 1979’s Toy Fair! Each package contains two figures – the ALIEN (Big Chap) and KANE (in Nostromo Space Suit) – in unpainted “test shot” blue plastic. These samples were intended for distribution to wholesale buyers looking for the “next big space movie” product in the 3 ¾” scale. Ultimately, the line was cancelled –as shown by the large red stamp on the box and enclosed letter to the sales staff – and these samples never were taken to the trade show.

Okay, full disclaimer: These two-packs are brand new and we are joking about “discovering” them. As far as we have been able to ascertain, ALIEN figures were never displayed at any toy show or event, which made us wonder what really happened behind the scenes. Taking that curiosity further, we decided to create “the sales samples that never existed” and turn it into fun collectible…and a great way to kick off the ReAction Figure series!

Super7 will bring a limited quantity of the “Discovered Sales Samples” to San Diego Comic Con! This will be the first opportunity for collectors to own the ALIEN and KANE in ReAction Figure format – five points of articulation, extendable inner jaws, removable clear dome, removable clear space helmet. Each two-pack in “cancelled” packaging (including the sales staff letter) retails for only $40.00.

SDCC EXCLUSIVE #3
ALIEN REACTION FIGURE BASES
Classic 3 ¾” figures are known to have holes in the heel of the toy, and ReAction Figures will keep that tradition alive! And if there is a hole in the foot, there needs to be a peg somewhere to connect…

Super7 has created an Exclusive Base in the shape of the ALIEN ReAction Figure logo complete with said peg. These bases will fit the upcoming ALIEN ReAction Figures as well as most vintage 3 ¾” scale toys. Visit the Super7 booth, sign up for our mailing list, and you will receive a Figure Base for FREE!

SDCC EXCLUSIVE #4
ALIEN REACTION FIGURE CATALOG
Thirty-four years in the making! Get the lowdown on Super7′s plans for the ALIEN ReAction Figure line in our “vintage style” catalog! A limited quantity of this popular catalog have been printed for San Diego Comic Con – and these will be available for FREE! Formatted exactly like the 3 3/4” space-figure booklets of yesteryear, this 12-page catalog features brand new information and photos on all five of the ALIEN ReAction Figures. Much of the catalog text and imagery is adapted from original toy packages and sales materials from the 1979 ALIEN product line, continuing the fun, retro vibe of the ReAction Figures themselves.

Super 7 GETS IT!
This is soooo cool!

If you are looking for another person to review and play, er, examine your work, Super7, I AM HERE FOR YOU!

NECA

Lots of stuff showing from NECA that’s looking amazing!
It has haunted all that have seen it for more than twenty years.
It has been teased for two years now.
But NECA is finally releasing from it dark cave – the Spider-Gremlin!

The first images came last week, but here’s a nice picture from their photoshoot:

Now THAT is damn freaky!

The first series of NECA’s ALIENS figures are hitting stores now. I’m still hunting, though limited (READ-None) makes it troublesome. But they are looking fine!

“Absolutely BAD-ASS!”

The two-packs will have new versions of Hicks & Hudson with helmets on. Here’s a look at Hicks in progress:

Series 3 is being hinted as having a new Marine, with the clues being that it would be a long-sleeved marine with a M240 Flame Unit instead of an M41A Pulse Rifle. Speculation is that it is either Apone, Frost or Crowe. My bet is on Frost, but my hope is Apone. But since Apone never carried a Flame Unit, as he grabs it from another marine to killed the chestburster, so I doubt it will be him.

Reveal at SDCC… I hope!

Speaking of SDCC reveals, here are two of the Comic Con exclusives from NECA:

The NES Friday the 13th game is an infamously hard game, called one of the worst videogames EVER. No really, I remember dying ENDLESSLY trying to kill Jason! NECA (with help from Dogmatic) immortalizes this in all its glory: 8-bit Jason!

Not only does he glow-in-the-dark but Jason comes packaged like the classic NES box!

NECA broke ground by making a Predator figure from Sandy Collara’s pretty-damn-amazing “fan” film Batman: Dead End-Big Red. Now you can add to his hunting party with the Albino Predator!

“Continuing in the tradition of the Big Red Predator from Predators Series 7, the Albino Predator SDCC Exclusive Action Figure comes to us from a fan film. Originally seen in Dead End, the Albino Predator now gets a much-deserved new interpretation as a special treat for fans headed to San Diego!”

If you asked me even a few years ago, I never would have believe that any studio would’ve signed off on doing this for a fan film-let alone TWICE But here it comes! We live in exciting times!

MCFARLANE TOYS

McFarlane Toys HALO 4 Series 2 includes unlockable game weapon “skins”, back around Toy Fair. Imagery of what it will look like has just been released.
Master ChiefUnlocks the “Riptide” weapon skin for Assault Rifle
Elite RangerUnlocks the “Chill” weapon skin for Storm Rifle
Storm JackalUnlocks the “Engage” weapon skin for Covenant Carbine
Spartan Scout (Rust)Unlocks the “Toxic” skin for Scout armor
Spartan CIO (Violet)Unlocks the “Ruin” skin for C.I.O. armor
Spartan CIO (Steel/Green)Unlocks the “Bones” weapon skin for DMR
DidactUnlocks the “Refractive” skin for Venerator armor
DidactUnlocks the “Refractive” skin for Supressor weapon as well

And for fans of “The Walking Dead” (like me!), McFarlane Toys goes big with on of the fan favorite characters-Darryl Dixon!

“This Daryl Dixon deluxe 10-inch action figure features the exact likeness of the actor, taken from a full 3D scan of the actor himself, Norman Reedus! The 10-inch tall Daryl Dixon action figure is portrayed in his iconic angel wings stitched biker vest and includes removable poncho, hunting knife, and crossbow. Poncho is an accessory piece within the packaging, but will not be displayed on Daryl.”

This is due out in October, just in time for the return of Season 4 of “The Walking Dead” hopefully!

Well, it is MELTINGLY HOT in LA right now so I think I’ll cut it off here. But I shall return soon withe more as soon as I can find an air-conditioned environment to hide and write!

Be seeing you,
RANDY
