Randy here-back after a longer than planned absence.

Out of this year’s Comic Con in San Diego came a cool and surprising release revelation. Super 7 are going to product the “lost” ALIEN 3 3/4 in figures!

From Super 7:

In 1979, prototypes for 3 ¾” action figures for the ALIEN film were developed but never manufactured. Through our network of industry and collector contacts, Super7 has unearthed the original 33-year-old prototypes and will utilize these to help make these “lost toys” a reality.

With official authorization from 20th Century Fox, Super7 will produce the full series of ALIEN toys as part of our REACTION Figure Series (Retro-Action.) REACTION Figures are stylized exactly as items from the “golden age” of action figures with approximately five points of articulation, accessories, and period-authentic blister card packaging.

The original line up of 3 ¾” action figures for the ALIEN were scheduled to be RIPLEY, ASH, DALLAS, KANE in NOSTROMO SUIT, and the BIG CHAP (the nickname used on-set for the ALIEN creature).

Other ALIEN & ALIENS merchandise will follow, including Designer Vinyl Figures and retro-styled Glassware! Please visit Super7’s booth (#4729) at the San Diego Comic Con for teasers of what is to come in 2013!

For those of you that don’t know, the 18″ ALIEN figure hit stores in late 1979 and parents apparently went nuts at the idea of an R-rated movie having action figures-as did my mom, who made me return mine! But its all cool now. In the mid-90′s, one of the collectibles magazines published an article with images of the prototypes. If you want to see & read some more about these “lost” figures, then checkout The Aliens Collection article on unproduced ALIEN/S toys. (Tell Willie I sent you!)

Of course as these are based on the figures from the late 70′s don’t expect hyper-detailing and poseability in them. This is nostalgia!I’m hoping the price isn’t too high, but I think this is a must for me in 2013!

Speaking of ALIEN, NECA has had some news and images of their Prometheus line since SDCC.

Prometheus Series 1 figures are the Engineer (Pressure Suit) and Engineer (Chair Suit), which are hitting stores right about now.

Series 2 will include android David (Michael Fassbender) in spacesuit and infected Charlie Holloway(Logan Marshall-Green) in spacesuit, due in November/December. Series 3 will include Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace)in spacesuit, Meredith Vickers (Charlize Theron) in spacsuit (Nice!) and infected Fifiled (Sean Harris) in spacesuit, due in early 2013. While the figures were not shown at SDCC, Shaw will come with the severed head of David as an accessory…

Oh, NECA, you are so very naughty!

PLEASE NOTE: Images and below of figures are spoilery for the movie. Will post in bold when spoilery stuff is ended.

You have been warned!

…DAMN. This scene is so very, VERY wrong!

This would be NECA’s packaging sample for a special Trilobite vs. Battle-Damaged Engineer, which also includes a separate version of the Trilobite (those are more legs to add-on, shown on the bottom of the package). Look for this Toys R Us Exclusive in November.

Another exclusive “creature” pack is also being produced to include the Proto-Alien, different Hammerpedes and the severed Engineer head with removable helmet. Who gets this sent and when in 2013 is still unknown.

End of PROMTHEUS spoilery stuff

I can’t go this far without revealing the mystery Colonial Marine in NECA’s ALIENS line: the bad-ass figure of the “ultimate bad-ass: Pvt. Hudson!

Yep-Called it!

Even without the tag at the bottom, I could instantly tell this was “Game Over, man!” Hudson! This is one of the nicest & most accurate face sculpts on an action figure line I’ve seen in a long time. Along with that, the camo paint ops looks spot-on along with the ubiquitous M-41A Pulse Rifle and, he even has his electronic bypass kit on his gear! NECA really, knocked it out of the park as far as I’m concerned. As it is specifically named for a scene/emotion, I believe we’ll be seeing alternate heads for Huston and Hicks. Say a Battle-Damaged Hicks and Final Battle Husodn, perhaps? The Hudson figure, along with Cpl. Hicks (not shown) and a new Alien Warrior, are due out in 2013. More time for me to collect cash for these!

I still want to talk about some items from SDCC, but I’ll see about that soon.

I do apologize for the delay in posting.
Right now, let’s just say that Life is knocking me around some right now. Probably the worst I’ve had in memory, barring family loss. There’s a lotta tough, hard decisions going on with me right now, with a *possible* bright spot coming. But its seems kinda distant and there’s no guarantees.

I want to thank my friends & family for all of their support, especially Toygodd, Umpire and the readers of AFTimes. Thanks for being there and reading me. Nice to know I’m not alone.

Let’s end on a high note. This is test animation for a fan project. Classic Star Wars meets old skool anime-and I LIKE IT!

You MUST view this!

I would watch this animated series in a hearbeat!
Big kudos to otaking77077 for this work. You watching, Uncle George? Write him a check and let him do a feature length film involving the other heroes of the Empire & Rebellion! Then walk away until its time to be released.

Be seeing you.
