And I’m back in 2012!
Less than a week into the new year and we’ve already got news popping out while we prep for this year’s American International Toy Fair in New York next month. We’re already getting Toygodd’s bail money together… just in case!
NECA appears to be ready & raring to go for 2012! They recently posted a teasing overview of their upcoming releases:
“Reviewing our lineup for NY Toy Fair in Feb. Some great new figures to show you. Borderlands, Valve, Assassins, Predator, Gremlins, Rocky, Evil Dead 2, Jason, and loads more. Killer lineup and we plan to dominate again in 2012. Holding stuff back for SDCC too. Year looks good!!”
They also posted packaged imagery of several of their upcoming figures. I’m very excited about their Evil Dead 2 line this year. The first two figures, “Farewell to Arms” Ash and Deadite Ash, are due out next month and here’s a look at Deadite Ash in package.
Color me a happy man! Already putting my pennies away for this line. Series 2 will be “Hero” Ash and Henrietta, due likely in the Summer 2012.
I will continue to still hope for a Cabin playset…
We also get a look at the Rocky line coming soon.
“Let’s talk Rocky & share some details you may not be aware of yet. Both Rocky & Apollo are available in regular & fight damaged versions
First Look – Rocky in packaging. Fully poseable & hitting shelves late February. Fight Damage version also available.”
“First Look – Fight Damage Rocky packaged. Fully poseable & hitting shelves late February. Reg. Version also available”
“The fight damaged versions are shorter packed and will be tougher to come by especially Apollo Creed. They have new damaged heads & new deco”
You might have noticed that the Everlast label on Rocky’s trunk is accurate. NECA has gone the extra step with the detail in their figures:
“We are able to include the equipment names like Everlast & Tuff-Wear on the figures because we contacted them for use & approval as well… Attention to detail when other companies have just put Rocky or Apollo names on shorts & gloves. Ours all match the film in every way”
Gee, I wonder who they are referring to?
As for their plans for the line:
“We’re doing I, IV, and then III for now. We’ll see what happens from there”
While not my cup o’Gatorade, the line looks like it is shaping up really nicely.
In the words of Rocky himself-”Go for it.”
Also mentioned:
PREDATOR Series 5-“March/April Series 4 is just hitting for some people, have to space the waves out”
Recently, Sideshow posted an intriguing answer to a reader’s question.
“Question: Any chance we will get a Batcave environment?? Sideshow you guys rock. If you every need to advertise I would gladly take items to display at my home!
Answer: Indeed, we’re cooking on designs for Sixth Scale Batcave environment options.”
I’m digging that idea a lot! Of course, now the question become WHICH Batcave? Since they’ve recently gotten the 1989 Batman as well as up-coming The Dark Knight Rises, it would seem that they have a wide field of choices available to them. Perhaps maybe even the likelihood of a finalized Batcave in DKR. Maybe we’ll see come Toy Fair.
And if you haven’t see it, check out Hot Toys’ Red Skull from Captain America-First Avenger.
Now THAT looks like a fine figure! That Hugo Weaving head-sculpt is really spot on! And with another HT body and boots, you can get ZWEI figures for the price of EIN! Sideshow has the figure out for pre-order already, due in Q2 of 2012.
Already looking like a good start to the toy year of 2012!
